Munster Muckrakers Game 1 vs Acme Corporation - Post Match Interview
Tunnel Interview with Smirk, Head Coach for Munster Muckrakers, done by Max Carnage, Junior Reporter for GBBL Fanazine.
Max Carnage (MC) : So Smirk great win out there today. How does it feel to be top of the GBBL table in your first season?
Smirk (S) : I still think it’s early days to really celebrate. Sure we scored a bunch of touchdowns; that’s what we’re here to do. And the team certainly followed our gameplan on that front. But one game doesn’t equal a season. We’ve still got a while to go.
MC : So what would you say are your goals for this season then?
S : Our main focus is on scoring. I want to challenge those most touchdowns tables from the get go. It was a great outing for Thither on that front and they made it onto that top 5 after just the one match. I’m really looking forward to seeing how high he can go this season.
MC : On the stats tables front, Lucile from A Nu Start is currently on the top of the most touchdowns table AND has narrowly edged out Munster Muckrakers player Rusty from the Top 5 in casualties even though they share the same number of casualties. How do you feel about that?
S : Well Lucile has had five games to get those 2 casualties; Rusty needed only one game. Sure it was against gobbos but Rusty showed real effort out there covering a lot of ground and clearing the pitch at key moments to make opportunities for the rest of the team. I don’t know how those tables are sorted but I bet there are a bunch of players, Rusty included, who deserve that Top 5 rank over Lucile.
MC : So are you saying Lucile is overranked?
S : What I’m saying is that other players have done what Lucile has done in less games. Surely that’s got to count for something?
MC : With players from another Skaven team, the Viletide Scuttlers, also claiming spots in the most Touchdowns and Casualties tables, do you see a rivalry opening up as both teams challenge for those accolades?
S : Look I don’t know what the aims for the Scuttlers is this season and I’ve not really seen them play. But I have had a look at their medical receipts and they are paying a lot for warpstone supplements over there.
MC : Are you accusing the Scuttlers of juicing?
S : In a sport where you can hire a corporate sponsored keg of beer to get your guys back onto a pitch, I don’t think some warpstone tablets in your water is going to be considered ‘illegal’
MC: You make a fair point coach. How do you fancy your chances against them though? Even if you don’t face off in the regular season, with players from both teams pushing to be top of the stats surely you have to consider their impact on the league?
S : You media lot are just trying to stir something up here and I don’t know why. We’ve played one game this season. We got a bunch of TDs, put on some pain and executed our game plan nearly perfectly. All we are focussed on right now is preparing for the next match and continuing this form as long as we can.
MC : So who do you fancy for your next game then? You’re missing Meatshield who is out with a broken ankle.
S : Yeah it’s a bad one but he’s just one linerat. I look forward to welcoming him back onto that line of scrimmage to take more hits for his teammates. But as for opponent, I’m not too concerned. We want to go up against as many teams as possible this season to prove we belong here in the GBBL and that we are a force to be reckoned with.
But I guess playing the Viletide Scuttlers would be handy. Make a bit of noise in the prematch reports. Maybe gets some more fans down. Would give you lot something to write about that's for sure. Plus it'd get all these type of questions out of the way as we move forward in the season.
MC : Thanks for your time coach. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
S : No worries kid. See you next match.
